When we think about unforgettable experiences, the first thing that will come into our minds are the happiest moments that happened. Unfortunately, this is not my case. It all started May 2, 2015. I was invited by a friend to their Family gathering. She just arrived from abroad together with her Fiancee. They decided to spend the celebration at KAPUTIAN KOSTAL BEACH RESORT, they rented the whole resort since it is just a few meters away from their residence not to mention that they knew the caretaker personally. We occupied 2 cottages, 1 house cottage and 1 room cottage. The couple occupied the room cottage separate from our cottage, the not so big airconditioned room was nice. I just find it weird why this room has 2 doors? 1 at the back part that has the hallway like the usual hotel and the other 1 sliding door facing the ocean. They also do not have CCTV inside the premises aside from the fact that they do not have the usual gate like other resorts, you will need to climb off the walls to get inside and they do not have any parking space for the vehicles to be safe. Anyway, so we started the party that night, everybody was busy then, palatable dinner was then served, unlimited drinks were everywhere, plus the singing and dancing also the swimming. Everybody was so happy. Nearly 2am almost everybody passed out, they already went to bed except for myself. All of us from BPO industries has this problem, whenever we have time to sleep at night ourselves won't cooperate at all. So, I am wide awake until the morning. When it was my time to go to bed as they were all awake now to prepare for breakfast and chit- chatting, reminiscing about what happened the past night when suddenly my friend asked me for coins as she already run out of peso. Before that morning she was then planning to let our other friend Fatma to go to Davao to change her foreign money. When she is about to send Fatma to Davao for FOREX, my friend and his fiancee were shocked as they have lost their money. My friend lost 5,000 pesos from her wallet and her fiancee lost atleast 120,000yen. All in all, the money that was taken reached to 48,000 more or less. They then went to ask the staff if they have seen anyone that enters their room and the staff were so rude telling them ( ayusin nyo yan, wag kayong namimintang). They were just actually asking if they have seen someone from their room. They talked to the owner about the incident and the owner doesn't seem to care at all. He said that they are just making stories, that he is confident about his staff not to do such thing. The question was, how can he be so confident about his staff when he just arrived the same day as we were and he doesn't live there. Owner do not know the word "empathy", he didn't even bother to call the police to investigate the incident. We have to seek police assistance all by ourselves in short he doesn't care whatever happened to their customer. When the policemen arrived they checked everything, that's when they found out that the back door knob is actually not working therefore, no matter how you locked the door it will still open by simply pushing it. The owner then called his maintenance to fix the door and he even claimed that door is fine. The lapses were clearly from their end and they don't seem to care at all, the rudeness and arrogance from the staff to the owner was absolutely disgusting. 48k is no joke. We would love to embrace the saying " there is always a first time and shit happens sometime". However, that "SHIT" will never happened if the room they occupied was safe. The owner even claimed that KAPUTIAN KOSTAL BEACH RESORT is a private resort. How can they say private when they are accepting guests? No wonder they are not included on Samal Beaches list.
Lesson learned:
1. Upon checking in to any hotels or resort be sure to check doors if locks are working.
2. Check all the linens, count the towels and blankets and let them know the numbers of linen in your possession.
3. Do not go to any unpopular places.
4. Do not be too kind to staffs whenever you are.
